Celebrity Ascent can accommodate up to 3,260 passengers with double occupancy. The maximum capacity of the ship is 3,731. Eighty percent of cabins have balconies. On Celebrity’s Edge class ships, the Infinite Verandas are actually a sliding electronic window, which creates a conservatory-like space.
Celebrity Ascent now has 179 additional rooms, including 22 suites to accommodate 350 more passengers from the older Edge-class ships. There are 32 cabins with verandas that can be used by solo travelers. There are also 178 connecting rooms and 25 accessible staterooms.
What to expect in rooms on Celebrity Ascent
On most ships, you’ll find 3 types of cabins: inside, outside with a great view and balconies. This includes suites.
Even the entry-level rooms are sleek and modern. They have been cleverly designed to maximize their space. There are plenty of power outlets, including European, US, and UK sockets, as well as USB ports. High-end fixtures and fittings can be controlled via an app. It’s a cruise cabin, yes, but the feel is more sophisticated and elegant than a standard cruise ship room.
The smallest cabin is 181 square foot, which is less than the average US hotel room. It’s almost double at 325 sq. feet.
The infinite veranda cabins are a controversial product. Some people like to be able step outside. We, however, prefer them because they offer more space, are more private than traditional balconies, and do not have heavy doors that slam. Bi-fold doors slide to create an additional room.
The cabins are equipped with a minifridge, desk, chair, and safe. They also have an interactive TV. On the desk, there’s a box with USB and power sockets.
Two chairs and a table are available on the infinite verandas. You can control the balcony windows with a switch located to the side. One switch controls the window while the other controls the blackout shade.
The cabins are beautiful and designed to make guests feel comfortable. They’re the kind of place you look forward to returning to after an evening on the ship.
Cabin bathrooms on Celebrity Ascent
The cabin bathroom has a glass shower door, a dispenser for shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel, a basin, a toilet, and storage space. You can expect to see more luxurious hardware, such as Hans Grohe showerheads, twin basins, and separate showers in higher categories.
Celebrity Ascent Suites
The AquaClass room on Celebrity Ascent includes access to the ship’s Sea Thermal Spa area, the dedicated Blu restaurant for breakfast and dinner as well as upgraded shower amenities, Yoga mats and daily water replenishment.
Celebrity Beyond introduced 20 AquaClass sky suites. These are also available on Ascent and measure 319 square feet, slightly less than twice the size of an average balcony cabin. These suites offer all the AquaClass amenities, plus access to The Retreat with all its benefits.
Celebrity Ascent offers 215 suites. The majority are Sky Suites. There are 146 Sky Suites. The Iconic Suites are the largest, taking up most of Deck 12’s front. They also have the Sky Suites which are smaller than a balcony.
All suites are entitled to The Retreat which includes a lounge, dining area, bar, plunge pool, sundeck, and pool. There are also other perks such as butler service and priority check-in, luggage delivery, disembarkation and tendering ashore. Dining reservations, reserved theater seats, in-cabin service (including afternoon canapes, Afternoon tea service and more), fresh fruit and flowers daily, premium robes, slippers and a larger room service menu.
The two iconic suites are located above the Bridge, and may have even better views than captains. Each suite is 2,590 sq ft, including a 690 sq ft balcony. The living/dining areas are huge, larger than most apartments. Both are facing forward and feature windows on all sides. Each unit has two bedrooms, two bathrooms (one with a whirlpool tub and the other with a shower), and a balcony with lounge seating and a hot tub.
Edge Villas is the only suite that leads directly to the sundeck. Each duplex “villa”, designed by British designer Kelly Hoppen, and introduced on Celebrity Edge has a living room and a shower room downstairs, which leads out to a private deck with a hot tub. Upstairs is the living space and another bathroom.
Only two penthouse suites are available on Deck 12. They measure 1,500 square foot, including a 200-square-foot balcony. Two bedrooms (both with en-suite bathrooms) and a sofabed for two people can accommodate six guests. The large living/dining area includes a dining table and a wet bar. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and vanity. The main bathroom features a Jacuzzi and separate shower. The balcony runs the length of the living area.
Royal Suites are 667 square feet in size and can sleep four people, despite only having one bedroom. There is a sofa-bed in the separate living area, and a separate cloakroom. The bedroom has a private terrace and a view of the sea. The bathroom is beautiful, with a stand-alone bathtub and a walk in shower. The Celebrity Suite is similar in layout but smaller, measuring 400 square feet. There is no sea view from the bed, but there is a terrace.
Cabins to avoid on Celebrity Ascent
Avoid cabins that are near elevators for noise and footfall. Also, avoid cabins in the lower deck of 3 because of noise.
We do have some favorites that we can recommend.
